They house a lot of animals here on a shoestring budget. Most of the workers are volunteers. Adopt from them, pay the fees, donate your lunch hour to go walk the dogs and the conditions will get better.
The animals have plenty of room to bounce and play around and they are given fresh food and water daily, so don't over-exaggerate that they're "mistreated". With limited staff, how can you expect them to give you their complete attention when they're worried about the apparently "undertreated animals" that some of us have been complaining about.
All in all, don't be going judging a book by its cover, if you don't know the story inside. Don't go thinking this place is bad just because its not "heavenly quality". Because your missing the point. Haven't you ever heard that its what's inside that matters?
So far, I have seen some negative comments on the prices, quality, conditions, and staff at Help For Homeless Pets (HFHP) but everyone is missing the whole point on why they even exist in the first place. Yes, I would agree their conditions may not be the best in the world, but what did you expect? Its an animal rescue - not a mansion.
I've gotten three happy and healthy pets from HHP and we love them all!
Would you like to know why there's so many animals yet so limited staff? Because honestly society really doesn't care. The owner of this place takes her own pocket money to not only fly animals all the way across the other side of the U.S. to save there lives because they are seconds away from being euthanized, but she also utilizes her money towards vaccinations and fixing animals. The price you pay for an animal here compared to what you'd have to pay to a Vet is drastically better.
GREAT place to find a furry friend! I got my cat Stella there about 18 months ago. After seeing her picture I drove 400 miles to get her. (Tioga ND) She was well taken care of there. My vet said she was in very good hands prior to my adoption. They called her Makala and had scared written all over her paperwork. Today she greets visitors to my home and chases small dogs all over the apartment building. lol Stella brings me presents she finds around the house. This summer she even tried to give me a garden snake and a big black beetle. lol ...
This place was absolutely filthy. I am sure there are some great animals here but the owners need to keep a cleaner shop. I feel bad for the animals living here.
In case you're wondering, I have posted his picture on here where the images are located. It is the gray little blob under the Christmas tree. Because of HFHP, Shibby is now warm and safe. Thank you. :)
Animals give us purpose in our lives, wouldn't you agree? They give us meaning, hope, and unconditional love. Yet, what do we pay them in return? Nothing. I'm sure HFHP would gladly enjoy an extra hand or two. Besides, don't we owe it to animals?
Take my dog for example. (Shibby). I admit, you can say hes a little ugly. Between his odd, gray, fluffy hair and large "kangaroo ears", he almost looks like a Gremlin. But I promise, hes the sweetest thing you'd ever meet. Yeah, hes a lil' ugly thing, but whats inside him is what makes people smile everyday when they see this 4-pound little dog walking down the street, with light in his eyes, eager meet every stranger that passes by.
