HOWEVER, the service both times we have come here has been awful.
We found this hidden gem while looking for a place close to our hotel. The service was top notch and the food was second to none! I had the chicken fried steak and everything from the perfectly spiced sausage gravy to the tenderness of the steak was fantastic (and I'm hard to please with chicken fried steak too!!) The side of bacon was cooked perfectly and the shake was by far the best I have ever tasted!! (It was made with real strawberries) In a world where prepackaged foods and artificial flavors rule king, it is nice to still see a diner still doing it the old way, with real food and a real genuine staff!! Highly recommended here!!
The first time, they took 15 minutes to seat us.
Food was really good. Thought the service was really slow and I can't understand why they charge $3.00 for a child's milk. Also the floor had so much food on it under the tables.
Bernie's is one of my favorites. It is on the ground floor of the Northern Hotel, so kind a nice place to people watch. It has the feel of an old fashion diner, and the staff is friendly. The food has never disappointed, from the tomato and avocado benadict to the captain crunch french toast everything is beautiful and delicious. It is a smaller place and can get crowded around brunch times on the weekend. Looking forward to trying the Vacation soon ;)

I have been to this place 3 times now and love it a lot. Food is amazing along with great customer service. And just an awesome place to eat..
We were offered a cup of soup, but couldn't have it. Going on 40 minutes, and ssssttttiiiillllll no food.
Then this time, our waitress forgot to put our order in and did not remember for half an hour. And they weren't that busy at the time.
